Fly Fishing in HKG

Dear my fellow fly fishermen/women,
Hi there. My name is Sage. I am moving into HKG in Aug, probably in Discovery Bay or Gold Coast area. I am an avid fly fisherman and have been thru both fresh and saltwater fields. I would be so grateful if you guys can share some knowledge on HKG fly fishing with me thru this website. If you guys are planning to go to Japan for trout fishing, by the way, let me know. I am from there and tried lake fishing many times. Anyhow, good to join this forum and would like to get to know a lot of HKG and its fishing. Cheers, and tight lines,

Hello Sage,
As to your request about any fly fishing in Hong Kong, the answer is yes. We have the Japanese sea bass available here and if you are from Japan, I am sure you have heard of this beautiful sport fish. We have them from around 3lbs to right up to over 40 lbs, though the latter are now quite rare. They would hit deceiver flies and clouser minnows in chartreuse and black. Also, night time fishing for them seems best. Look for dock yards with plenty of lights at night and cast right into the pylons. This is where most fish hold.
There are pay ponds available here too and most are stocked with barramundi, mangrove jack and redfish. All hit flies with gusto.
Some of our reservoirs are stocked with the Amercian largemouth black bass and these too will hit a fly at the right time.
