Well, it’s that time of year again and I’m looking for help on a snake ID. I live on the shore of Tsam Chuk Wan near Sai Kung. Mangroves, underbrush, etc. This morning I saw what appeared to be a roughly 3-4 foot long snake, roughly 2 inches in diameter, thin tapered tail, brown with dark/black bands near the water. I did not see the head as it moved away quickly.

We’ve had Cobras in the area in the past, but haven’t seen a picture that quite matches this coloring. Any ideas? Thanks!

Maybe a rat snake? (one of commoner HK snakes)
