Hong Kong Sharks

Hong Kong once had a shark fishery indicating at least they were at one stage abundant, and why perhaps they are now locally extinct.

HK sea fishing

Welcome to Hong Kong's first ever offshore and deepsea fishing forum for the latest game fishing news.
Due to fishermen trade secrets we can't tell you exactly where we fish, but we can certainly tell you what we caught!

Asiatic Marine has a variety of fishing charters available to a wide range of people. All charters include fishing gear, lures, tuition (for all levels), snacks and drinks.

We also teach 'beginners trolling':learn how to read charts, tie knots, use lures and most importantly talk about the biggest fish that got away.

If you don't believe there are monster fish in these waters then look very closely at this image. These Chinese Seer fish (mackerel family) were caught 30 kms south of Aberdeen. We know where and when they migrate.

All fishing trips are weather dependant.

HK diving

Hong Kong is surrounded by sea. The approximate sea surface area is 1650 sq km, and dotted with some 200 islands. The rocky reefs and coral comunities of Hong Kong shelter a diverse and exquisite range of fish and marine fauna. Over 300 species of reef fish and 84 species of corals (hard & soft) have so far been recorded.

Pedro Blanco over fishing

PedroBlanco,SouthChinaSeaEighty-five kilometres due east of Sai Kung in mainland Chinese waters lies an isolated rock pinnacle swept by deep oceanic currents and covered in colourful marine life. The rock finds itself at the centre of some of the most intense and destructive fishing pressure within the South China Sea.

During periods of calm weather when fishing is more favourable Chinese fishermen hurl packets of dynamite at the rock or drop pillow-sized bombs onto some of the deeper pinnacles. Gill nets ring the islands, lines of hooks crisscross the rocky bottom and underwater spearfishers by the boatload come from Hong Kong dressed in camouflage wetsuits and fire upon anything that moves.

All this is particularly alarming considering the rock is only 200 metres in circumference.
